12:09 pm	A dark dark day My dog just died of a heart attack this Monday at a little before 4pm CST. She coughed up some blood and went limp while driving her to the vet. She was a cockapoo and one of the best dogs ever. Hope everyone elses pet will be healthy and well for as long as possible. (1 Comment |Comment on this)

11:17 am	Here we go again Well I just got the Firefox 1.0.3 upgrade and it seems to be nicer for me than 1.0.2 was. It doesn't crash on certain sites that use weird Javascript or or Java in general anymore. I wonder if they'll come out with Firefox 1.0.4 soon or if they'll sit around and add a lot of really useful stuff and just work their way up to version 2. I kind of hope so. Oh and a side note to anyone who still reads my petty blog here, go check out digg.com which I think is pretty nice. (Comment on this)

1:25 pm	Why me? It just really infuriates me to no end when I miss even part of a show on television I've been meaning to watch. In fact I tend to prefer skipping a show even if I miss only the first five minutes of it and just watch a rerun. Am I alone in this? Some people are telling me that I'm being childish and immature about a simple television show that really isn't that important to begin with and I would really like to know if anyone else feels this way about anytime. If you miss part of something, especially the beginning, then you just aren't getting a finished product. I'm just going to go take a nap and wait a few weeks for a rerun, then again, shows that are really popular lately just don't seem to even have reruns. Maybe I'll go buy a punching bag and pretend to kill the incompetent dork that made me miss my show today. (2 Comments |Comment on this)

9:28 pm	Free software and the web Well I just installed the full suite of web utilities from www.mozilla.org and I have to say I am very happy with what I have now. It has never crashed on me once and the modern interface is just wonderful in my very humble opinion. I suppose I should have checked it out earlier but Netscape seemed to just crash a lot and I let my prejudgmental nature get the better of me. I'm glad I decided to check it out. 11:47 am	Sleep I got a new bed a few days ago and it is now in place. It didn't take very long to put it together and slap it in place. It's big, firm and it doesn't really feel that much different to me unfortunately. I'm still getting good sleep and I still dislike waking up in the morning. I didn't get a new pillow since I really like the one that I have. Now I really do have to crawl out of bed since my feet don't reach the ground all the way while sitting on the bed even though I'm at least six feet. (2 Comments |Comment on this)

8:04 am	SpamPal ... Yay Well it works great. I've been using it for awhile now and it works flawlessly for me. I only get one or two things every now and then and I can still blacklist those things pretty quickly and easily. I am so happy it works. I no longer have to spend upwards of 30+ minutes just checking for a few personal email messages. Three or four messages to my inbox and a few hundred to my trash. This is the best thing to happen to my email yet. (Comment on this)

1:05 pm	Aaargh Well I just decided to install SpamPal (from spampal.org) which is a great anti-spam utility for when you don't have access to a real OS like Linux (or BSD for those of you feeling left out). I have been getting more than a hundred messages a day and I have no clue why. I'm not even that public (if at all) with my address. It's driving me nuts. It seems okay so far but I'll post again after I've had some experience with whether or not it works as well as people are telling me it will. Wish me well. (Comment on this)

6:50 am	Tired I keep waking up earlier than I want to and it's really starting to get to me. I am getting upset at the smallest things now such as the way my copy of gcc for windows will not allow me to declare a variable inside of a for loop or even use function points on classes which is actually a very simple thing. Why me? Some days I just want to give up and go back to sleep for the entire day. Okay, maybe more than "SOME" days. I would cut back on caffeine but I think the withdrawal symptoms might kill me. 2:32 pm	The impossible has been done Well I was finally able to download the entire MS Core PSDK from their site and since I'm using a 56k modem I'm pretty happy with my acomplishment. I've been going over stuff and I think I am finally going to be ready to start writing some stuff depending on how easy it is to find something in this huge mess of documentation and reference material. 7:17 pm	Up and running Well our Dish is up and running once again. I got some family members to help me with a two way radio set and played with it enough to get a good signal strength rating of 110 although it seems to go up and down a bit. It's good because we don't have to pay anything to anybody and we seem to be getting everything we are supposed to be getting. This was done yesterday and apparently SOMEONE wanted to fiddle with it more today so we had to go and fix it once again today. I sure hope we don't have to continue dealing with this. It gets really old fast. I guess now I can go back to obsessing about other things in my life. (Comment on this)

3:43 pm	Oh the weather and ... stuff Well the house siding is done and during the last patch of stuff the guys moved our dish satalite and now we just can't get a lock on the signal again. It's one of those things where you have to have it right inbetween two different satalites so it is very precise. I just hate that I wont be able to watch any television at all this weekend. I have tried fixing it myself several times and now that I even know what 'angle', 'azimuth' and a couple of other words mean I am still unable to get any signal through the dish satalite. It's going to cost at least 50 dollars to have a dish service guy come out and fix it too so I really think the people who did the siding should be charged. Opinions? This kind of stuff happens to me all the time and I really wish it wouldn't. I just end up feeling like strangling someone and end up losing sleep over the whole thing even though it never really does any good. I guess I'll post on Monday when (hopefully) everything is fixed and back to normal. On the brighter side of things, the house is going to be much cooler in the spring and summer now. Joy. 3:57 pm	This old decaying house I hate it. I really do. My family has decided to have new siding put on the house and everything in, on and around this house is a total mess now. It's just not possible to do anything and now it is raining outside. I'm going to scream and have a tantrum if it doesn't stop soon. The garage is full of enough garbage and other miscellaneous items that we either don't need or don't want. How do normal people handle this? I've gone to garage sales where people have more stuff and less space and their garage (not to mention everything else) still manage to look cleaner. I hope none of the wood or semi-special items outside rot or get destroyed in the rain. I guess that's just a dream now, and a distant one at that. The people doing the siding have left for the day already because they're just not going to work in the rain. I think the paycheck needs to take a rainy day too. Not much else going on in my life right now. I'm still going through an old book on C++ that was written by Jesse Liberty in 1994 and it doesn't even contain information on namespaces. I guess it's a good thing I know about them already huh? I'm still searching the net for various Win32 references so I don't have to download the entire half-gigabyte MSDN library but it is looking pretty hopless as usual. I doubt I could download even 100 megs at one sitting even if I wanted to since I'm on a 36k modem as it is. Oh how much simpler life would be if I could just magically get everything I wanted like a surprise shopping spree that didn't cost a penny. Maybe I'll just go take a nap. (Comment on this)

10:28 am	In the beginning Well my friend talked me into signing up at livejournal so here I am. I'll probably post more stuff as time goes on but for now I can be flagged down at Aardwolf MUD since I am completely addicted to Dungeons and Dragons. It's free too so that's cool.
